FASHIONCLASH Festival 2014 Side Program

During the FASHIONCLASH Festival 2014, the whole city of Maastricht was literally taken over by FASHIONCLASH. Pop-up stores, exhibitions, lectures, movies, special events in selected boutiques and cultural spots were spread across Maastricht and turned the FASHIONCLASH Festival into a truly unforgettable event.

The Side Program was officially launched on the 12th of June by a fashion show organized in collaboration between FASHIONCLASH and the De Bijenkorf. Later in the evening, Lumière Cinema showed a special selection of fashion movies during the Fashion Film Night Out.

For the Side Program, boutiques in Maastricht agreed upon hosting a designer’s collection in their shop. Latvian designer Baiba Ladiga collaborated with PL-Line, Carlotta Actis Barone worked with Noir, Amal Kiran Jana installed his and accessories at Hannes Roether, DBAK – DESIGNED BY ALEXANDRA KALKOWSKI was on display at Le Marais Deux, label 2 was connected with Stijl Wyck and so on.

Exhibitions were also organized especially for the FASHIONCLASH Festival. About 11, the third year fashion and design students from the MAFAD, had two expo pop-up boxes in the city while Dutch label fORS prepared a special performance that took place at Bureau Europa. The installation by the Fitting Rooms Projects, Sonia Aïssaoui and Christina Braun in the Brusselstraat 53 was also very successful. While the designers Sonia and Christina showcased their collections, Anna Kruiswijk launched the essay “Fashion Frictions” by the Fitting Room Projects.

The several pop-up stores located in the Mosae Forum also attracted the crowds. FASHION FREAX, OFF STRAND, FEE ACADEMY DIVISION, and STRIKKS:store were located just a couple of steps away for the Market square and managed to present exclusive pieces to the curious visitors.

The Side Program was a real success and completed perfectly the program at the SAM Decorfabriek. For a couple of days, Maastricht turned into a real fashion city.
